Commencing on 1 October 2021 we seek to appoint a

Professor (W2) for Culture and Lifestyle Journalism and Social Media

at the Faculty of Media

Your duties include:

  • Representation of the innovative area of expertise of the various social media developments in teaching and applied research as well as practice-oriented content sharing
  • Further development of our digital teaching formats
  • Interdisciplinary cooperation with other departments of the Faculty of Media
  • Active participation in the development and expansion of master's degree programs
  • Practice-oriented teaching in the subject areas both in German and in English and also using digital formats (e-learning, blended learning) in Ansbach and possibly at other university sites
  • Subject-specific and strategic further development of the subject areas with special focus on digitisation
  • High-quality supervision of practical assignments , Bachelor's and Master's theses as well as doctorates
  • Involvement in setting up new international partnerships and maintaining existing ones
  • Proactive involvement in research and development activities
  • Active and interdisciplinary involvement in administering academic affairs

You offer:

  • University degree, preferably in the field of journalism or comparable studies
  • Above-average professional qualifications in the field of practical journalism, especially in the areas of culture and lifestyle
  • Intensive experience in setting up and expanding social media offerings in a journalistic-editorial environment
  • Adept at using monitoring and analysis tools in the area of social media channels
  • Interest in the critical reflection of overall societal changes in communication through the use of social media
  • Ideally, knowledge in the field of developing educational content with an edutainment approach (e.g. "serious gaming")
  • Ideally knowledge and experience in the field of entrepreneurship
  • Mature teaching skills and convincing pedagogical aptitude
  • Excellent academic achievements in research and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent academic qualification
  • Very good  German and English proficiency and ability and willingness to teach in German and in English
  • Enthusiasm for passing on your practical experience in teaching applied research to our students as future academics
  • Special achievements in the implementation and development of academic insights and methods in a minimum of five years of work experience gained after completing your first degree and of which at least three years must have been gained outside of the university sector. If, over a period of at least five years, a considerable portion of your work involved a cooperation between a university and a non-academic employer, this time may be considered to meet the requirements for non-academic work experience in special cases (pursuant to article 7 (3) sentence 1 point (3) of the Bavarian Higher Education Act (BayHSchG))
